For bodybuilders, anabolic steroids are things that just can’t be escaped.
Even if a bodybuilder competes naturally.
And has never touched a steroid, SARMs or Prohormone in his life, if he looks good there will be people out there quick to accuse him of using steroids.
Of course, it doesn’t help matters that there are also bodybuilders out there that are basically walking chemistry experiments.
There are bodybuilders standing less than 6 feet in height, weighing more than 300 pounds of pretty much all muscle.
This is certainly not natural, or particularly healthy, and it just is not achievable naturally.
Getting that big is not attainable naturally, no matter how amazing your genetics may be.
Yet some bodybuilders will be quick to claim natty and claim that they built their physiques through hard work and determination.
To their credit, there are other bodybuilders out there who will openly and honestly discuss using steroids.
One bodybuilder that we’re going to be looking at today.
Is Bradley Martyn, as we look at the question of is Bradley Martyn on steroids or is he natural.
Bradley Martyn is very well-known in the bodybuilding and fitness community, and when you see his physique for yourself.
You’ll know exactly why that is.
But has he built it through hard work, hardcore training, and clean-eating, or were steroids involved?
Here’s a look at is Bradley Martyn on steroids or is he natural.

Before we proceed with this article, we first need to get the legal stuff out of the way.
We don’t condone the use of anabolic steroids, but we don’t judge those who use them either.
Building muscle is incredibly tough with or without steroids, so we’re not here to persecute or point fingers.
We are in no way associated with Bradley Martyn and we have no proof whether he is or is not using steroids, or if he has ever used steroids.
The content in this article is therefore based purely on speculation on our part and is by no means, the gospel truth.
We are going to be looking at pieces of evidence that could suggest the potential steroid use.
Before drawing our own conclusions as to whether or not we think Bradley has used or is using anabolic steroids.
Bradley Martyn is perhaps best known as being a hugely popular social media fitness trainer and bodybuilder beside Calum Von Moger.
Bradley’s social media presence and the following is almost as big as him.
As he has literally millions upon millions of followers on his various platforms.
Perhaps his two most popular channels, however, are his Facebook and Instagram pages.
Bradley says that he created his pages for his followers.
As his goal is to help them meet their fitness goals and targets and to get lean and muscular, just like him.
Martyn is not a small dude, in fact, he has the stats of a pro-wrestler from back in the 80s and 90s, when steroid use was rampant.
He stands at 6ft 3 inches tall and weighs in at around 260 pounds off-season, and 245 – 250 pounds on-season when he competes.
Bradley isn’t like your typical social media fitness guru, however, where the main goal just seems to be to ramp up the likes.
No, Bradley takes bodybuilding very seriously.
He has competed numerous times over the years and has taken several 1st place finishes.
Including at the NPC Southern California Classic, and the NPC Phil Heath Classic.
When he was a youngster, he was your typical teen and began showing an interest in training as a teen.
He started responding favorably to the training and began taking his diet and training that little bit more seriously as he grew older, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Bradley Martyn is a beast, both in and out of the gym.
At 6ft 3 and 260 pounds, you can probably guess how awesome he looks and how hard he trains.
Bradley doesn’t just walk into the gym to get a bit of a pump before heading out to party and pick up chicks.
Bradley Martyn eats, sleeps, and breathes the bodybuilding lifestyle.
When he trains, Bradley aims for around 10 reps per set and trains at roughly 85% of his max for most of his exercises.
Interestingly, however, Martyn doesn’t follow a fancy training routine like many other ‘Insta trainers’.
He instead says that he listens to his body and trains what he deems necessary.
If, for example, his chest looks as if it is lagging in comparison with his delts.
He says that he will simply train his chest, even if he already hit chest a couple of days ago.
He is, however, a firm believer in switching things up and keeping them fresh and exciting.
Bradley, therefore, will follow a different routine every few weeks.
Some weeks, for example, he will train for 3 days per week and follow a heavy full-body split.
Whereas on other weeks he will train for 5 days per week and follow a 5-day split.
Typically, he follows push/pull/leg splits as these have provided him with the best results, but he does mix things up very often.
He is also a firm believer in cardio, which is evident in the fact that he has visible ABS all year round.
Rather than performing fasted cardio for 40 minutes each morning on a treadmill or doing fasted weight training.
However, Bradley likes to keep the cardio fun and exciting and will take more of a circuit/Crossfit style approach to cardio instead.
Instead of boring and monotonous jogging, he will perform tire flips, sled pulls, and circuits to help obliterate fat from his frame instead.
You can’t out-train a bad diet, as they say, which is why Bradley also takes his diet and nutrition very seriously as well.
When he is dieting down for a contest, Bradley likes to follow an IF protocol.
IF stands for Intermittent Fasting, and it is something that has proven hugely effective for him over the years.
With IF, the basic premise is that you alternate between periods of feasting and fasting.
Brad would fast for 16 hours per day, and use his remaining 8 hours to eat healthy and balanced meals.
When he isn’t competing, however, he can afford to be a little more relaxed.
In these cases, he simply cuts back on carbs and follows more of a Ketogenic diet plan emphasizing moderate protein, high fats, and low carbs.
On days when he is training heavy, however, or when he feels he is looking flat.
He will ramp up his carb intakes and follow more of a carb-cycling diet protocol instead.
Typically, he consumes plenty of salmon for healthy fats and proteins, quinoa for amino acids, protein, and nutrients, Greek yogurt for taste and protein content, and almond butter.
Which he states is better than peanut butter because it grows on trees and therefore won’t be soaked with fertilizers and pesticides.
Now that we know more about Bradley Martyn and because we know about how he trains and what he eats.
It’s now time to look at whether he has built his physique based on clean eating and regular exercise alone.
Or whether steroids may have played a part in the building of his impressive physique.
Here are some pieces of evidence both for, and against, steroid use on Bradley’s part.
If you want to get an idea of whether or not an individual is natural or on gear.
It is a good idea to compare how they look now, to how they looked several years back.
Bradley Martyn is only 29 years of age and has been lifting since he was 15.
Back when he competed in 2011, Bradley was decidedly smaller than he is now.
In fact, if you compare pictures of when Brad was competing, with pictures of what he looks like now.
You can see that he looks like a new person.
He looks a good 30 pounds heavier, if not more, and that size is ALL muscle.
Many natural bodybuilders struggle to build 30 pounds of muscle in a lifetime.
Let alone in less than 7 years, so either Brad has been blessed with truly god-like genetics.
Or he has used some form of an anabolic steroid such as Deca and Dianabol to help get him to the size he is today.
The NPC claims to hold natural bodybuilding shows, and yes, they do indeed test their athletes.
If Brad competed in the NPC such as Kali Muscle, then surely he would have competed as a natural, right?
Well, not necessarily.
You see, the NPC’s testing policies are pretty laughable.
To begin with, not all athletes are tested, and what’s more.
Athletes know that they are going to be tested after they have competed.
This basically means that because they know when they are being tested.
They can plan a cycle so that all remnants of the steroids are out of their systems by the time the date comes to be tested.
Testing, therefore, is anything but random.
What’s more, even if you were to fail, the NPC doesn’t publish the results of their tests.
So you would have no real way of telling who passed and who failed.
Flushed skin is another telltale sign of steroid use, and yes, Brad’s skin does look flushed at a time.
Steroids cause an increase in blood pressure.
Which in turn causes the skin to turn red/pink as the body tries to get the blood pressure back down to normal.
This is why bodybuilders often look red in the face and body, even if they’re just relaxing.
Many bodybuilders on steroids look as if they’ve just stepped out of a sauna because their skin is so red.
Brad’s skin isn’t overly flushed constantly, but there are pictures and videos of him where he does look more flushed than usual.
Brad, as mentioned, weighs in at around 260 pounds on average.
In fact, lately, he looks closer to 265.
To get to that size, at that weight, with that type of condition, would be incredibly tough naturally.
In fact, some would argue that getting to that size naturally just isn’t possible at all.
There are images out there of Brad stood next to pro bodybuilders.
Including current reigning Mr. Olympia Phil Heath, where Brad more than holds his own.
Phil Heath is huge, as are many other IFBB pro bodybuilders, yet Brad more than holds his own when stood next to them.
We know that many IFBB pros are on steroids, and so if Brad looks as big as most, if not bigger than some, then surely he is using something?
What’s even more remarkable is the fact that he is much bigger than many former Mr. Olympia winners in the past.
Including Arnold Schwarzenegger himself!
Arnie has admitted to using steroids to get to his pro-size before they were banned.
So again, this does appear to indicate that Brad is using steroids.
Building muscle mass naturally is hard enough, but to build muscle, burn fat, and get your body fat percentages into single-figure digits are virtually impossible naturally.
If you see Brad on social media and at expos, etc, you’ll see that he has visible ABS and vascularity virtually all-year-round.
Does he simply take his diet and training up a level, or are steroids also a factor.
Based upon the evidence listed above, we believe that Bradley Martyn is in fact on steroids.
Remember, we have no proof of this, other than what we can see with our own two eyes, but we do believe that getting to that size naturally is just one step too far.
