The importance of growing your fan base and following online to further your career should never be underestimated.
The fitness industry, in particular, is now heavily influenced by social media.
This is why guys like Calum Von Moger are now appearing on TV shows and in magazines with some of the most famous bodybuilders and celebrities on the planet.
So-called ‘insta trainers’ such as Kali muscle, Bradley Martyn.
Grow their following online and have millions upon millions of fans.
If they engage with them and offer interesting and/or unique content.
Normally that is enough to earn a pretty good living.
If, however, they look like Calum looks, the sky really is the limit.
Calum Von Moger has a physique that most men can only dream of attaining.
Yet he has been accused of taking steroids on more than one occasion.
In fact, if we’re being honest.
He’s probably been accused of taking steroids on more than one occasion this very morning.
This then begs the question of is Calum Von Moger taking steroids or is he natural?
Let’s attempt to find out, shall we?
Table Of Contents
Before we dive into this article we must first get the legal jargon out of the way.
We are in no way associated with Calum Von Moger and we have no proof that he is, or is not, taking steroids.
Therefore, the content of this article is based purely on speculation on our end.
As we will be looking at pieces of evidence that COULD suggest steroid use on Calum’s part.
So, now that we’ve got that out of the way.
Let’s try to answer the question of is Calum Von Moger natural or he is using PED.
Age: 26 years old.
Height: 6ft 2.
Calum Von Moger is the epitome of a polarizing figure in the bodybuilding world.
It seems as if people either love him, or they loathe him.
And there doesn’t seem to be anything in between.
Calum has a personality that is, shall we say, unique.
He is a big, athletic, good-looking dude with one of the best physiques in the industry.
The problem is that he comes across as kind of an immature douche at times.
His social media content that doesn’t involve diet or nutrition.
Is normally him and his buddies acting like immature school children.
Despite the fact that he is a fully-grown man.
Personality aside, Calum’s physique really is something to marvel at.
He is widely referred to as Arnold 2.
Because not only do they look the same in the face.
Calum’s physique is also very similar to Arnold’s when he was in his prime.
Calum stands at 6ft 2 and weighs in at around 250 pounds on average.
These stands are virtually identical to Arnie in his prime.
What’s more, Calum also has one of the most aesthetic physiques in the industry.
At his size, Calum is similar to many IFBB pros that compete at the Olympia and the Arnold.
Despite this, however, he has a tiny waist and shows no signs of sporting a ‘growth gut’ which makes the pros look like they’re pregnant.
Calum hails from down under, so he’s Australian.
As opposed to being Austrian like Arnie.
Calum is aged 28 now, yet he has a physique that more than stands up to people fifteen years older than him.
Born back in 1990, Calum had a pretty good upbringing back in Oz.
He did okay at school, he was into sports.
But it was his brother that really inspired him to train.
Well, his brother and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Calum would often read bodybuilding and fitness magazines and he strived to look like Arnold, whom he considered an idol.
One day his brother took him with him to train at the gym.
And it was love at first sight from there.
Calum fell in love with the iron and began hitting the gym harder than ever before.
One of Calum’s favorite movies was Pumping Iron.
And it was this old-school bodybuilding mentality that seemed to resonate with him.
He grew up idolizing bodybuilders like Arnold, Lou Ferrigno, Ken Waller, Steve Reeves, Mike Katz, Franco Columbo, etc, and he knew that one day, that’s how we wanted to look.
After training for a year or so, Calum’s physique was really on point.
He looked awesome, he was clearly very genetically gifted, and he decided that he would like to compete on stage.
In 2010, at aged 20, Calum competed for the first time in Australia and he mopped the floor with the competition.
He went on to win the Jnr, Mr. Universe, the NABBA Jnr Internationals, as well as the Mr. Universe title.
This is a title that Arnold himself had once upon a time.
He picked up sponsors, magazine shoots, and fitness modeling gigs and really started to turn heads.
He eventually went on to move to LA in the hopes of making it big.
Not only in bodybuilding but also in Hollywood as well.
He began marketing his physique on social media and he currently has more than 2.6 million followers on Instagram and Facebook.
With this kind of reach, people really started talking.
After taking a starring role in ‘Generation Iron 2’ Calum was now on the radar of people in Hollywood and he was arguably the best shape of his life up until a few months ago.
Calum competes in the classic physique division.
Which is itself, a division based upon classic physiques from back in the golden era of bodybuilding, I.E the 70s and 80s!
Calum was looking immense and intended on qualifying for the Mr. Olympia 2018. Most people knew that he was guaranteed to qualify because he looked so awesome.
But once again, his immaturity got the better of him.
In late 2017 while filming a video for his Instagram page.
Calum and Chris Bumstead were attempted to “curl” a barbell with 405 pounds on it.
They did indeed manage to curl it if you can call it that.
But during the lift, Calum completely tore his bicep from the tendon.
This required near-immediate surgery and requires several months of healing.
In fact, after tearing a bicep, that muscle itself rarely looks the same.
Calum provided an update on what kind of shape he was in a few months back.
And it isn’t looking good for 2018.
Calum still looks better than 90% of the population.
But compared to how he was looking when curling that barbell.
He looks like a shell of his former self.
He has lost heaps of size and his torn bicep looks noticeably smaller.
How will Calum gain back that size when he is healed?
Well, some may say that he will use steroids.
So, the time has come to answer the question of is he taking steroids, or is he natural.
Remember, we have no concrete proof of steroid use on Calum’s part.
But even so, here are some pieces of evidence which could suggest steroid use.
At 6ft 2 and 250 pounds of solid muscle.
Calum is a really big dude.
In fact, he is bigger than Arnold and many other similar pros were back in the day.
Arnold himself has admitted to using steroids to get to that size before they were illegal.
So surely that means Calum must be on gear?
Well, not exactly, because you have to remember that everybody is different.
If you search online there are plenty of pictures of Calum before he started lifting seriously.
As well as the ones where he competed in natural competitions such as Jeff Seid.
Now, if you compare these pictures to pictures of Calum where he really blew up around 2013 time.
It’s clear to see that he had gained a good 30 pounds or more in weight.
He is so much bigger and as you know.
To make a dramatic transformation like that.
Normally that means that steroids have played a part.
When you lift weights, lose fat, and get yourself into good shape.
A little vascularity, especially on the biceps, is perfectly normal.
Calum’s vascularity, however, takes things to a whole other dimension.
He has veins all over his body that look like hose pipes.
Which is normally an indication of steroid usage.
Another indication of steroid use is red skin or flushed skin.
And yes, Calum again has this on display in most of the images he posts on social media.
One of the main reasons why steroids cause your skin to turn such a deep pink/red color is because they increase your blood pressure.
Once a person’s blood pressure is up, normally this results in the body’s core temperature to increase also.
This causes blood vessels to dilate.
Which is why excessive vascularity is associated with steroid use.
And is why steroid use causes the skin to turn red.
This next piece of evidence is not actually associated with steroids at all.
It’s actually associated with HGH.
HGH, however, is often stacked with steroids.
So if a bodybuilder is using HGH.
They are normally using steroids as well.
HGH causes the jawline to change shape and become blocky.
If you look at Calum’s jawline you’ll see that looks decidedly rectangular in shape.
Which could be an indication of HGH use.
In his defense, he has always had a pretty strong jawline, even more, a younger age.
This next piece of evidence is perhaps the strongest we could hope for when trying to prove somebody is using steroids.
Not too long ago, Calum was interviewed by Generation Iron.
Where he was openly asked about his views on steroid use.
To his credit, Calum was surprisingly open and honest and he pretty much admitted to using steroids.
Calum was asked about steroids and he responded by saying that he has never claimed to be ‘natty’ and that he has never denied taking steroids.
He said that he just didn’t want to talk about using them because that wasn’t something that he wanted to promote.
You have to admire him for this because with millions of followers.
Calum could certainly influence many of them to use steroids if he wanted to push them onto others.
Calum said that he only started using steroids after winning the Mr. Universe.
He said that many pros approached him and asked if he wanted to compete again.
If he did, they said that he would get smoked on stage if he competed naturally.
Because it wouldn’t be an even playing field.
They were obviously referring to the fact that he would be competing naturally.
Whereas everybody else would be on gear.
He was told that if he wanted to do well.
He would have to consider taking steroids.
He admits to using steroids now but reiterates the fact that it was a personal choice and that he competed naturally for a very long time.
Well, due to the fact that he has openly and honestly admitted to using anabolic steroids.
You can probably guess our verdict.
Yep, we believe that he has used steroids before and that he may be using them to this day.
As far as what he is running, we’d guess the Tren cycle, Test-E, Deca, and HGH, though again, this is pure speculation.
